Amazon Leo Shows Off In-Flight Wi-Fi Antenna That Will Take on Starlink
Amazon has unveiled its new Leo Aviation Antenna, a flat, low-profile phased-array design built to deliver high-speed in-flight Wi-Fi. Promising up to 1 Gbps download and 400 Mbps upload speeds, the antenna is designed for easy installation on commercial jets and draws on the company’s Leo Ultra technology. Deals are already in place with Delta (starting 2028 on hundreds of aircraft) and JetBlue (targeted for 2027), positioning Amazon Leo as a direct challenger to Starlink Aviation.
The antenna features no moving parts, strong resistance to harsh aviation conditions, and a streamlined profile to minimise drag. While impressive for airlines, full service rollout remains years away as Amazon continues building out its satellite constellation.
