Amazon Leo La-05 delayed launch schedule

Amazon Leo LA-05 Launch Delayed – Now Targeting 4th April 2026

More Satellites per Flight Means Faster Constellation Growth

At Space Internet Solutions, we stay on top of the latest developments in low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite internet so we can give our customers the most accurate advice and best possible installations across the UK.

The latest update on Amazon’s ambitious Leo constellation (formerly Project Kuiper) is that the LA-05 mission has been delayed due to inclement weather at Cape Canaveral. The new target launch date is Saturday, 4th April 2026, at approximately 05:45 UTC (1:45 a.m. EDT) aboard a United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas V 551 rocket from Space Launch Complex-41.

Both the rocket and the 29 production satellites are reported healthy, with the delay purely weather-related. A final go/no-go decision will also need to consider range approvals and deconfliction with NASA’s Artemis II schedule.

Why This Launch Matters: 29 Satellites Instead of 27

This isn’t just another routine deployment. LA-05 will carry 29 Amazon Leo satellites — an increase from the previous 27-satellite batches. Thanks to engineering improvements and a new dispenser configuration developed with ULA, this will be the heaviest payload ever flown on an Atlas V rocket.

Each successful launch like this brings Amazon closer to a fully operational constellation capable of delivering high-speed, low-latency broadband to homes, businesses, and communities worldwide — including here in the UK.

Amazon currently has over 200 satellites in orbit, and with an accelerating launch cadence (including upcoming Atlas V and Ariane 64 missions), the network is expanding rapidly. Commercial service is expected to roll out progressively through 2026, with the UK among the early target markets alongside the US, Canada, France, and Germany.

What This Means for UK Customers

While Amazon Leo is not yet widely available for residential users in the UK (it remains in limited preview/enterprise phases), the pace of satellite deployments is a strong signal that full rollout is getting closer.

For rural homes, remote properties, farms, and businesses still struggling with slow or unreliable broadband, LEO satellite internet — whether from Amazon Leo or the already-available Starlink — offers a genuine game-changer: fast downloads, low latency for video calls and streaming, and reliable connectivity even in hard-to-reach locations.
